Dancing for Change…let’s see what’s happening elsewhere in the world.

20 Jan

All over the world, women see themselves as not allowed or restricted in accessing public space for so-called religious reasons. Even in Western countries, and in big cities like Montréal, existing cultural differences mean that the realities of accessing public spaces are often very different for women and girls.

On January 6, 2012, 250 Bet Shemesh women in Israel gathered to denounce this exclusion and discrimination faced by women and girls. The women were of all ages, backgrounds, and most importantly, were orthodox and non-orthodox. A good example of combined action that is artistic and has become a viral video clip!
